CHRISTINE DURRANT

Christine’s practice engages in social documentary and cultural issues expressed through the medium of drawing, photography, video-film and prose. Her focus continues to engage with women's narratives, exploring especially issues that are important in their lives; nurturing roles of care and community still score highly, even within a wide spectrum of age groups. These spiritual aspects of womanhood, to which the artist is passionately inspired by, are often conveyed using portraiture and the language of nature. Using ink and watercolours, drawings are worked freeform prior to experimental merging with photographic processes, to produce limited editions of archival quality Giclee and Kodac C' Type prints. She is drawn to the instantaneous reality of drawing, photography and film, which can be rendered illusive as a way to communicate ideas. Life-drawing is also a central aspect to practice. Christine has previously exhibited in twenty group shows including galleries in London, Greenham/Newbury, Hungerford and Bath. She has also guest edited for a-n magazine. Christine work continues to evolves with the themes connected to' Forest'. Exploring women's instinctive nature, their essence and their 'wild' side, seemingly resonating to jar with cultural modern trends in women's roles.  Although not participating in the MOS 2017 Art Trail, visitors are very welcome to visit the studio by mutual arrangement.
