Hilary Stock is a photographer, known for her limited edition fine art pieces which use grids of photographic images that have been hand-folded to create unique pictures. At the Preview Show this year, she will exhibit one of her new tryptic pieces. She draws inspiration from her mother’s and grandmother’s home county of Cornwall. Hilary seeks to find colour and form in unusual objects and places: the peeling paint of a beach hut or the textured feathers of a bird. Quirky details complement and echo each other, encouraging the observer to look, and look again. Hilary is represented by The Harbour Gallery, Portscatho, Cornwall. Her pictures have been bought by private collectors as far afield as Germany and Greece. Her work is also used for interiors, most notably the new spa at Watergate Bay Hotel, near Newquay, and SpaShell, who create top end spas for international clients.
Hilary began her working life making BBC Radio 4 programmes, drawing on her background in anthropology. She has travelled widely and lived twice in India. Alongside her artwork, she does a range of photography, including portraiture and longer term photography projects within communities. Her work has been published in the Daily Telegraph Travel and Weekend sections, as well as various magazines and websites. She is always open to discussion about working with her, and her camera.
