Kim is looking forward to welcoming vistors old and new this year. New works include the technique of relief carving and experiments that include gold leaf.
Challenged by the sculptural problems of form, space, light and shadow, Kim carves intuitively using hand tools only, letting the characteristics of this ancient material dictate what will emerge. Blocks of stone lead her into creating the “shadow” series. These capture the play of light as shadows dance across the ripples and angles carved into the stone. Lumps of stone are often looked at for hours, turned and looked at again and again until she sees a form waiting to be released. Sculpting stone is about what is underneath, what is hidden, what can be revealed. Kim is delighted to be joined again this year by Chrys Healy/Arty Pumpkin whose works in mixed media and printmaking fill the Living Room with colour and thought provoking words. Visitor Notes:There is plenty of parking on a gravel drive; wheelchairs can be accommodated but please ring in advance. Studio open by appointment throughout the year.
Kim is also taking part at the Showborough Affordable Art Show (27 April to 11 June), Avebury National Trust Sculpture Show (26 August to 1 October), and Chedworth Roman Villa National Trust Sculpture Show (9 September to 8 October).
