I paint landscapes, seascapes and wildlife exploring the emotional potential in the expression of a moment in time that connects through the natural world of weather moods and light plays on the land and water. I have a fascination with the seasons and how they affect the land and the sea, wind, tides and wildlife. My work endeavours to give a private resonance to the viewer, extending this moment in time of naturally recurring phenomena.
My paintings are created predominantly in watercolour, oils or acrylics with inspiration coming from observation of the natural world and the enjoyment of being in wild places that are moulded by the elements, unspoilt as nature intended.
My work hangs in England, France, Canada, the USA and Australia. I have exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, the South West Academy and have had several one man shows including the Bath Festival and local exhibitions.
It is the continual connection to natural light that has spiritual resonance for me and keeps me painting in my hilltop studio at Spirthill nr. Calne.
