Penny Chivers Stanley

Penny's mixed media work focuses on strength and vulnerability, portrayed through mixed media work in painting, film, drawing and poetry. Her semi-abstract gestural female figures question our perceptions of the female body. She has studied at Newlyn School of Art and is currently completing and MA in Fine Art at Falmouth. Penny is an associate this year as she prepares for her final MA shows in Leamington Spa and Walcot Chapel, Bath. Her current focus is how we can slow to discover new states of being. Penny recently showed the VOWVAS project (Voices of Women - Vulnerability and Strength) at Parnella House. The well-received project involved sittings with women resulting in a collective film, paintings and drawings. Penny is a founding member of the White Horse Arts artists collective and shares studios with other Devizes artists, hoping to develop more community art involvement. Penny works from a studio at Parnella House in Devizes Market Place. The building is situated along from the Black Swan Hotel, between a carpet shop and Chinese takeaway and has pillars outside. It will be clearly signposted. There is paid and unpaid parking in the market place. Penny's studio is on the second floor so is not accessible friendly sadly.
