Kim Pethybridge
Kim discovered stone carving purely by chance 20+ years ago on a weekend course run by some Zimbabwean sculptors. She fell in love immediately with the medium and can totally loose herself in the process of creating a sculpture.. All pieces are made using traditional hand tools only, which give her a direct contact to the stone.
She particularly loves making Abstract "Shadow Dance" pieces with Ripples carved into them inspired by the ripples in the sand. These capture the play of light as the sun moves across the piece, bringing you back to look at the sculpture as the light changes. She also enjoys carving animals, particularly Owls and Hares
Her larger outdoor Limestone sculptures will be dotted around the garden and smaller Soapstone pieces will be on show indoors. She will be more than happy to give you a demonstration when you visit; its always a miracle to show the colours in the soapstone revealing themselves.
Joined once again by Arty Pumpkin whose Mixed Media work will be on show indoors, and who doodles away in the sunshine (hopefully). They are both looking forward to welcoming you to studio 39 this year.
Kim is a member of the Cotswold Sculptors Association exhibiting with them at Miserden Gardens Glous 4th June -3rd August 2025. Also exhibiting at Showborough Affordable Art, Twyning 27th April - 15th June 2025 and will be at the National Trusts Avebury Manor 30th August_ 19th October 2025.
