Rosie Shorrock
I joined Wagon Yard Artists in November. My recent work has been influenced by the sights, sounds and memories of the landscape, in particular the Pewsey Vale in Wiltshire. My paintings are abstract, but at times they have become very slightly more representational as I attempt to capture the extraordinary sensation of standing, isolated, within these beautiful places. How each colour reacts when laid next to, or over other colours, is a constant path of discovery. Combining this with scale, proportion and balance is an ongoing challenge. I work on several paintings simultaneously, but each painting takes me to a different conclusion, despite the starting point being similar.
