Working on new designs for textiles, testing new fabrics or alternative colour combinations for existing designs is a daily occurrence here at Pink House Studio. My textiles are printed by hand in small screen printed editions, some are digitally printed, then they are hand-finished.
I am inspired by observing and recording the natural environment, often using drawing and design software, photography or social media to explore an idea. From here the interplay of shape, colour and composition becomes the main focus and soon the idea takes on a life of its own.
Although the work I make is largely screen printed textiles, recently new textures and marks have been developed through experimenting with different methods of printmaking. I am also expanding my practice to include painting directly onto fabric using dyes.
