Sketchbooks are my usual starting point for any new piece of work. I find the germ on an idea from a loose exploration of the world around me. I develop this through the process of painting on canvas. Subject matter includes people, nature and the domestic sphere. Painting several pieces at once and having them around me at varying stages of completeness while I work, helps the ideas flow, as the paintings inform each other.
While my work is predominantly abstract, I also like to experiment with more representational elements and play with questions of perception and understanding- how an artwork is read by the viewer and how a figurative or representational shape can change that.
At Milton Lilbourne on the Burbage/ Pewsey road take the turning opposite the road into Milton Lilbourne and follow that down under the railway bridge and into New Mill. Go past the grassy triangle on your left and Meadow Cottage is the third house on the left with a concrete drive going up.
