Helen Colling
A textile artist, Helen has been experimenting with the enduring sensation of a vanished human presence. Ethereal qualities are interpreted by layering sheer materials with different images of her photographs or sketches, transferred to cloth by digital printing, disperse dyes or paint. Suggestions of shadowy figures are stitched into the work. Ruined buildings, remote landscapes and historical events provide inspiration. More recent work has been inspired by forest walks, colour and reflections.
