Michael Davey
I make domestic and decorative pottery , using earthenware clay, thrown on the potters wheel and decorated with coloured slips and glazes. I love the freedom that this type of ware offers and enjoy exploring the possibilities of expression with colour and mark making in this medium. My influences include a lifelong love of nature and also the world of abstract art and expressionism from around the world.
I aim to produce affordable work that will bring an element of joy and fun into a world that might take itself too seriously sometimes!
I will be making and demonstrating in the workshop during the weekends and will be happy to help and give advice to any budding potters who want to learn this wonderful and ancient craft.
I am sharing the studio with my wife, Christabel .
