Suzanne Jacobs
I work mainly with soft pastels, loving the vibrancy and immediacy of this medium, although I am increasingly experimenting with other media too. I enjoy trying different paper surfaces, methods and subjects and tend to focus on capturing the colour and atmosphere of what I see around me. My colourful and uplifting art may be inspired by, for example, a favourite view of the local Wiltshire landscape or be focussed on the small and ordinary around me, often from an unusual viewpoint.
In addition to exhibiting in a number of local exhibitions, I was extremely excited to have a piece selected for the Pastel Society Annual Exhibition at The Mall Galleries in London for the first time earlier this year and to have two pieces selected for the extended long-list of the Jackson's Art Prize.
I look forward to welcoming visitors to my small garden studio, which is in an old stable building, and to chatting about the joy of creating my art. There will be many originals available for sale, and probably a few new pieces of work in progress. I will also have greetings cards and postcards for sale. There will be refreshments available!
